[MOD POST] Community Layout
Hello everyone! It seems like forever since I've made an official post as moderator, but it was brought to my attention a few weeks ago that the layout for the community maybe misaligned?? Is this something that is affecting anyone else because if that's the case I would like to fix that. If anyone is having this issue could you leave a comment with the problem or even better take a screenshot of the issue that way I can address it? Thanks guys!

Keep the NejiTen love alive!!

♥ BC

EDIT: I will be updating the community. Thank you for the information. ♥

Ha, I see. Thanks for letting me see that. I shall make some modifications.

Using Windows XP:

As unlogged user: Firefox (v3.5.6, with adblock) | IE8 | Opera (v 10.63)

As logged in user (both paid and plus user): Firefox | IE8 | Opera

For a temporary stop-measure, I remade this community's layout in LJ's S2 format. Livejournal no longer supports S1 (which is what this community currently uses), so basically all the ads bork it up, and if LJ decides to add any new layout features or do something else with the ads, it will most likely bork up this community unless this community goes paid or this community switches to S2. S2 also allows for other nifty features that S1 doesn't have.

A Live Preview of the code can seen here, and if you log in as a paid-user, you can preview the community with the layout here.

As a double bonus, I edited the code slightly to allow for an additional side banner: Live Preview here, and preview applied to the community here.

All of the code is for a free, basic community account. I have tested it on a free basic community account and it comes out fine (as in, ads do not bork it up).

Detailed as always! Thank you for the views. For some reason I do not have any of those issues when I look at it from IE or firefox so I'm glad I asked. I shall get to work on improving the community.

Here's the code for the old layout in S2 -- that way at least for the time being the community layout won't be broken while you're working on making a new beautiful layout that will be three times better than my copy. :P

1. Select Journal Style: Type Flexible Squares into the search box. Choose one of the themes that appear below (any theme) and hit "apply theme".
2. Have vertical ads
3. Customize Your Theme (upper right hand corner link
4. Go to [Custom CSS] on lefthand side
5. Select "No" for choosing to use layout and external stylesheet
6. Copy'n'paste code into [Custom CSS] textbox.
One of many tutorials

Because the code is too long for LJ's comment limit >>, look at the HTML source code for the above previews: Just header | with side banner. The CSS code begins with the
/* Cleaned CSS: */
/* Cleaned CSS: */

/*------------------------------------------------------*/
/*--- FOR THE NEJITEN LJ COMMUNITY ONLY ----------------*/
/*--- NOT TO BE USED FOR PERSONAL LJS OR OTHER COMMS----*/
/*------------------------------------------------------*/

and ends at the </style> HTML tag (which is below the /*--- EXTRA RANDOM STUFF ---*/ section.)

For the side banner option, the side banner is 200px wide and is under the #content group. Obviously, banner can be changed to a far more beautiful graphic.

And as per LJ FAQ#168:
Use the Switch Style System page to switch between the two style systems. You can find a link to this page from the main Journal Display pages. When you switch your journal between S1 and S2, each style system's settings are saved so you can try the other style system without losing the settings for your current one.

LJ also says flat-out that S1 is no longer supported and anything they decide to do with ads will not be taken into account for S1 layouts here.
