Promt: Fishing Rated: G
The splash of water as a kunai cut through it was a familiar sound to Neji. It is a sound he has heard hundreds of times in training and dozens in battle. What made today unusual was that this was neither.

His team was on an extended mission, nights spent in a city were at a minimum, and Neji was convinced this had caused Ten Ten to loose her mind. Another splash for no less then the forth time. The mission must have gotten to her, for she had taken to throwing knives in to the water. Also, judging by the way that hairs were clinging to her face, it would seem that more then knives had been in the water this day.

Deciding this had gone on long enough, Neji cleared his throat to gain his teammate's attention. She glared at him with a look that said "WHAT!?" to paraphrase that is. "Ten Ten, what are you doing?"

"Fishing." That was it, no details nor thought just a simple blunt answer. "I've had nothing but field rations for three days, tonight is a fish fry." While it would be beneath his dignity to complain about the rations that had a taste resembling saw dust, he could understand her plight.

Deciding this was a nobel enough cause to aid in, Neji activated his eyes and began to scan the water. There! With his trained reflexes Neji had the fish impaled in no time. Ten Ten smiled at him as she picked it up out of the water. "Not bad." She stated simply.

Tossing the fish up to him she started to walk towards the nearby trees. "Start cleaning them and I'll get the fire going." Them, as in more then one? Looking behind him Neji saw 5 fish hanging from a line over a nearby tree limb. Even he couldn't help but be slightly impressed.

Wait a minute, did she just tell HIM to clean the fish?

Valentine's Chocolate (PG)
She was in essence, a candy bar. Dark chocolate hair, swirled chocolate eyes and today, she even wore a faint chocolate and vanilla perfume.

Neji didn't have a sweet tooth and he didn't like the feeling of being intoxicated. It made him feel weak. But she burned a hole in his stomach that begged to be filled. His mind begged for fever. His mouth begged to be quenched.

She was dressed in a burgundy Cheongsam with red bamboo pattern. Her lips were painted a dark color (chocolate).

He resolved not to kiss her, not touch her. He knew he couldn't. He even contemplated holding his nose around her too.

Tenten smiled and waved when she noticed him from afar. “Neji! Good morning. Happy Valentine’s Day!”

“Good morning.” He called back, half-heartedly.

He didn’t wish her a happy Valentine’s Day. He didn’t want to admit that today was indeed the 14th of February.

Tenten approached him.

“You look beautiful today.” He said mindlessly.

“Thank you” Tenten stifled a girlish laugh. “You look pretty handsome yourself.”

Neji hated small talk. He nodded his stiff thanks.

Tenten touched his arm. “Neji, around noon I’ll meet you at training area 11. We should really tighten up our routines. I’ll clean up and bring lunch too.”

Neji was taken aback. Had she read his mind? He was never comfortable on occasions such as this. Was she catering to him?

“Of course. I’ll be there.”

Tenten smiled, lips pressed together. “We can’t spoil ourselves like the others. Got to keep in shape.”

Neji nodded with relief. Training was always easier than Valentine’s Day.

“Tenten,” Neji started as she began to walk away.

“You can—uh—keep the lipstick. . . If it’s convenient.”

His Name. (PG-16)
Her voice was made for his name. They were like lock and key; like wind and leaves.

N was warped. It dragged for too long, a low hum between her tongue and mouth.
E was a desperate whisper that she breathed as a hot fog.
J was the clenching of teeth. One second that her body held still.
I was a punctuating whine. Sharp at first, then soft. And very sweet.

Why? Why had he agreed to come to this place? This was not his idea of a good time.

It always happened.

Gai would assign a day in the month that he deemed “team bonding” time and the four of them would do something that Neji would much rather be left out of. Last time it had been some stupid movie, which his two idiot teammates inevitably got them kicked out of, like they always did, because they were too loud.

‘Who yells at a movie screen anyway?’ Neji angrily asked himself; remembering the countless times their antics had them thrown out; something he really didn’t wish to repeat again. ‘Right, those two idiots.’ He angrily glared at the back of the twin bowl-shaped heads belonging to the self-proclaimed green beasts of Konoha.

This time it was a theme park. Lee had been very excited because he had heard that the rides were said to be the fastest and scariest experiences ever. Clearly the idiot hadn’t thought it through. They were ninja; they could RUN faster than the fastest rollercoaster, how the hell did they expect for that to be exciting?

"..." Neji intensified his glare; wishing his eyes could burn holes in the two idiots' heads.

Standing in a long line to ride some silly kiddie-coaster, was the last thing he wanted to do. But Neji just couldn’t figure out why it was he was there. Why did he always agree to go to these ridiculous activites?

“Line’s moving Neji.” A soft sweet voice said from next to him.

‘Oh, that’s right.’ Neji looked down at the bun-haired girl standing beside him.

That was why…

A/n: This is kind of a rewrite of a drabble I already had in one of my fanfic.net stories... but I thought it fit the prompt well so I decided to post it... hope you liked ;)

oh, and this is not bashing on Gai and Lee... I LOVE Gai and Lee... use them in my stories constantly... but I just figure Neji gets easily annoyed with them and their silly antics (but deep down, he does love them)... ;P

Empty Pressure (PG-13)
Tenten opened her eyes slowly. Breathing was more difficult than usual. When her vision focused she wondered were she was. The sky above her was a burning blue.

She was on her stomach, pinned to the ground with a red stench all around her. She tried to move. Pain! Instantly she gasped and lay her head back down in the black dirt. She felt blood in her scalp run down sluggishly to her eyebrows.

When the wind blew, long, dark strands of hair that was not her own draped over her shoulders.

It was then that she realized Neji was on top of her, unconscious.

“Help . . .” she whispered feebly. “Help us, please. Pleeease . . . .”

She coughed. The pressure of his chest hurt her the most. Not that he was so heavy he was crushing. His weight would’ve been comforting if. . .

But it sent a spike of fear into her, so ragged and cold that she wanted to cry out.

His pressure was lifeless, his chest was empty. His heart was silent.

“Neji, what have you done?” she pleaded.

“Why did you protect me . . .?”

She curled under the blankets, pressing her ears against the makeshift pillows to block out the sounds of Lee crying out to the night.
It was always like this, every night. Ever since the end, ever since they escaped with their lives, leaving the remains of their home, families and loves and lives behind the rubble that used tobe Konoha. All night, Lee cried. And she was helpless, unable to comfort him.

Outside the flames flickered, and she could see his faint shadow from outside the tent.
She went out and glanced at his glistening form in the moonlight.
“Neji,” she whispered softly, as she sat beside him in front of the embers.
He smiled at her grimly. “Tenten,” he answered back.
She sighed and then rested her weary head on his shoulders. “I’m so scared.”
She felt cool fingers threading through her hair, comforting, softly, gently...
“Don’t be... it will be alright.”
She lifted her and gazed at his beautiful features, her own face twisted in dismay. “Will we ever recover? Do you think Lee will stop crying, and I’ll stop remembering sensei, Sakura, Naruto, their bodies, blood... ”
She felt the cool touch of his finger on her lips, hushing her.
His smile was soft and gentle and achingly full of warmth.
“Don’t worry Tenten. We’ll forget together.”
Tenten gazed at him, and felt the overwhelming relief wash over her. She smiled back, trailing her fingers over his cheek.
“Neji...” she breathed, closing her eyes.
“Don’t worry Tenten.” He whispered. “You’re not alone.”

When she opened her eyes, she was back in her makeshift mattress, Lee crying beside her, and outside the flames were dark. Neji was gone. Neji was dead. His body was last seen in a pyre outside of Konoha, ashes rising in the air to sting her eyes. There was no Neji.
She gasped, and trembled. Then the tears took over. It joined with the despairing sobs of Lee.
There was no way to comfort her teammate.
She was caught in a nightmare herself.

"These things," Tenten began, eyeing the foil curiously, "are so cute."

Lee nodded vigorously in agreement. "Sometimes, I can hardly bring myself to use them." They mutually observed the coin-sized package before glancing askance at their wordless companion.

He was spreading butter evenly against his toast. Feeling their eyes on him, he picked up his eyes and stared pointedly back.

"You spread butter," commented Tenten, eyebrow cocked in what appeared to be amusement (for he recognized that expression now), "very royally."

Then, she laughed. And it wasn't such an insult anymore.

The War Meeting
Emperor Hiashi waved his hand and all of his generals and advisors left the throne room.

“Neji, stay.” He commanded as the others filed out.

Neji went to him and kneeled low. “Yes, my lord?”

"I want you to go to the northern states with the warriors. Take your horse and crossbow. They will need your wisdom and your keen sight."

Neji tensed. He bowed his forehead to the ground, eyes clenched. "Yes, Emperor."

He got up quickly and strode out of the richly decorated throne room. He stumbled once or twice through the long halls. So turbulent his thoughts were that he didn't pay any attention to the reeling walls and blurred faces. The only thing that guided him was the memory of the path ingrained in his body. He made his way into the secret corner, the one always in the back of his mind.

He pulled back a sheer curtain to reveal an ink painting of two cranes wadding in reeds. It was their painting. Standing in front of it, before him was a servant of the clan of Chi.

She flew into his arms. He received her and held her tighter than he ever had before. She'd almost disappeared into him, covered by his sleeves. She slid through his hanfu garments, her hands on his skin like miniature heating pads. Neji patted kisses on the top of her head.

"Tenten. It is . . . my time . . . to . . .go." He whispered in between his mouth's migrating affections.

What a way to coat her heart before shattering it.

She broke away. "The campaign? Oh Neji . . ." She said in her heavy Chi accent. "You are . . . You are only a junior advisor. Why?"

"Do not worry. Please. The Emperor is wise and his word is law."

Tenten backed into the corner, trembling.

Neji moved in and slowly raised his hands to each wall, enclosing her. "My lady," he started with a sudden change of tone. "Have a little faith."

Tenten solemnly moved her arms around his neck, surveyed his smirking face and opened her lips to kiss him.

Neji felt his heart settle and his mind quiet with her touch. All seemed so wrong around him except for his and Tenten's small corner of right.

The tip of her tongue met his ear, barely a slighting, and with it words. "I'm coming with you."

She must have learned the art of seductive distraction from him.

"Absolutely not. A battle field is no place for--"

Tenten met his eyes. "You know I'm warrior."

"And a women." Neji insisted. "Only warrior in secret."

"A women in love. All the more dangerous."

“You will have to conceal yourself. I don’t know if the Army of China would accept a woman in love into their ranks.”

“Someone’s coming.” Tenten moved out of the corner with one urgent step and took on a casual lady-like stride away from the walls. Neji followed her with a dignified pace at her side a foot apart. He tucked in his loosened upper garment lapels and straightened his black advisors hat. Tenten pulled her robes tight.

It was only a floor washer.

“Good evening.” The older man said.

“Evening,” Neji greeted. “Please take care of that painting in the corner. I enjoy it.”

“Of course, sir.” The man said cheerily.

“Thank you, Renshu.” Said Tenten.

He smiled. Few people ever thanked him, much less a pretty lady. Old, dutiful Renshu kneeled and dunked his rag into a bucket of water. Just as he began to wet the floor, he turned around just to catch a glimpse of Tenten and Neji walking arm against arm into the weapons room.

“Curious.” He whispered hoarsely.

A/N: No epic battle Sorries!!! Implied epic battle? lol.
This could deserve a part 2, maybe^^
Also, the clan of 'Chi' is a clan I made up for Tenten.

White, Porny, a hard R.
White. It's overwhelming here. In this place that fairly drowns in his-ness. Tenten stifles a groan as inexperienced but curious fingers trace her collarbone and then the dip of her throat. The touch is tortuous. Far too light. Like everything in this place that is his. If she opens her eyes she knows she will see the white ceiling, the white duvet in her peripherals and most of all his white gaze. He's keeping his eyes open, she doesn't know why. Just like she doesn't know why a few crystalline drops from those eyes fell on her. It is perhaps the saddest, loveliest thing she's ever encountered.

A finger with the same tortuous delicacy as before traces curlicues and spirals on her left breast. She arches and grips his shoulder hard. He will have finger-shaped bruises in the morning. She does this both because it's who she is and because she needs to remind him she's a woman of concrete details and action. He shudders at her grip and his fingers momentarily stop their flight to press into her skin. She wriggles in encouragement. He's breathing hard. She snakes an arm up and grasps a hank of hair. She pulls and brings him down for another kiss. This does the trick, now his hands are firmly on her not ghosting their way around the point.

She's glad that she has had some experience with the healing aspects of a good kiss and a a cuddle. This boy needs someone who know what a touch of affection is. She hooks her ankles behinds his back, His breath stops for a quarter-note, in that quarter-note she opens her eyes. And drowns. As she always knew she would. It's to light and saturated and the most important thing is getting his pants off.

She makes no noise when he enters her, but she clings to him with the absolute minimum amount of space apart that allows her to still look into those marvelous eyes. The white gets brighter.

Mock Assassinations (PG)
Tenten finished dressing first. She looked behind her at Neji, being idle and lingering with the clothes in his arms. She went to him and pushed him so suddenly that he could only stare in awe and surprise. She made him travel back until his back hit one of the pillars. The force was hard enough that he only had sense enough to contort once and rebound to wide eyes. She held his wrists firmly and moved her mouth close to his ear. He felt a gush of hot breath down his neck as Tenten locked him in position.
Even with his eyes open, Neji couldn’t see where Tenten had produced a kunai, but she reminded him of it by touching its point to his chest.

“I win. Two and a half seconds. Assassination success.”

Neji’s cheeks colored slightly and he breathed a sigh. “That’s . . . alleviating.”

Tenten flushed brightly, arrogantly. “You’d be dead so easily if I had to kill you.”

“You’ve obviously proved my awareness weak.” Neji breathed. “Should we practice more?” he suggested hesitantly.

“It wouldn’t be a surprise.”

“No, I would be surprised.”

“You would not.”

“I can pretend to be surprised.”

“Then it’s not legitimate practice! . . . Why do you sound eager?”

“You’re as red as Hinata.”

“Am not. And you’re avoiding the question.”

Neji raised a hand to her hair, stroking her. “You are.”

Tenten bit her lip.

“And cute too.”

Tenten felt his hand whip instantly into a two-fingered blade, just centimeters from her neck. “Assassination complete.” He said in his most handsome voice.
