He grabbed a chair and spun it around before sitting. His gaze never left her, analyzing every little movement. "Do you care to explain?"

Tenten stiffened at the accusing tone in his voice. She carefully put down the kunai that she had been inspecting and met his gaze evenly.

“Explain what, exactly?”

“I want to know why you've been slacking off with your training.”

Excuse me?!” Tenten's eyes flashed dangerously. “I log at least 50% more hours training than we're required to put in and I put in more hours of target practice than anyone we know. I hardly consider that slacking.”

Neji considered her angry expression and reconsidered his choice of words. Perhaps offending his friend and teammate wasn't the best way to question her... and for some strange reason, he hated when she was angry with him.

“I didn't mean it like that, Tenten,” he said quietly. It wasn't exactly an apology, but it was as close to one as his Hyuuga pride would allow. “Recently, you've been spent less time training than you have in the past.”

“Yes,” Tenten admitted grudgingly.

“Why?”

Tenten deflated a bit as she thought back on her last mission. It had been a solo one, due to the low risk factor. She had been assigned to escort a young family back to their hometown which was approximately a three week journey traveling at a comfortable pace (for civilians). The young couple and their child were so happy together! They didn't have much, but they had each other. Watching them should have made her happy. Instead, it only made her sad... It puzzled her, until she realized why.

She wanted that.

Oh, she was pragmatic enough to know that she would never be happy with the quiet life of a civilian. (She would go mad with boredom within weeks!) But she wanted something more than going home to an empty apartment at the end of every day. She had spent so many years focusing on her professional life (honing her weapon skills to perfection) that she had completely neglected her personal life.

That had to change.

So she started sacrificing a few hours training here and there.

“It's complicated... and personal.”

Neji frowned at her deliberate vagueness.

“I've just been working on another project. Okay? It's no big deal.” Tenten rapidly put all her weapons away, sealing them into her scrolls with a hand sign and a bit of chakra. “Speaking of which... I need to go. I'll see you later, Neji.”

And then she was gone...
that's what she said: naruto: nejitenintimidate on February 11th, 2009 12:14 am (UTC)
Neji sat there in silence, slightly puzzled and slightly annoyed at her answer. He didn't want to pry, especially since it wasn't in his nature to go out of his way for other people's business, but he'd be lying is he said he wasn't at least a little bit curious. He wanted to know what exactly was her problem because her change in training hours were beginning to bother him. And when something bothered him, it became very much his business.

With that, he stood up and walked briskly out of the room.

Five minutes later, he found himself trying his hardest not to scowl and strangle his wide-eyed male teammate. Lee quivered fearfully at the tension Neji seemed to be emitting. "B-But Neji, precious friend and top rival of mine! Spying is a sin!"

"It is not."

"Against our dearest flower, IT IS," Lee insisted, a pleading look in his eyes. Neji frowned as Lee whipped his head around warily, as if expecting their female teammate to pop out from behind a building and attack in all her weapon-wielding glory.

"I..." Lee's voice dropped to a whisper, further annoying Neji, who had already reached the end of his patience. He should have known better than to ask Lee, really. The fondness Lee held for Tenten could only be described as how a little boy would look up to their big sister. "I cannot. While I am deeply swayed by your concern of our dear Tenten, I cannot spy on her!"

Lee finished with loud wail in what Neji assumed was shame. Neji closed his eyes to calm himself and tried to think of another way to persuade his overly-dramatic companion.

"Are you not worried?" Neji asked. Lee stopped wailing.

"Of course I am!"

Neji raised an eyebrow and shook his head lightly. Lee's bottom lip quivered at the expression, just like Neji knew it would. "It doesn't seem like it, Lee."

"But I-"

"It's not spying. It's looking out."

Lee looked torn and sat himself on the sidewalk with a look of serious contemplation, staring at the sidewalk with his brows deeply furrowed. After a couple of minutes, Lee looked up suddenly, looking Neji straight in the eyes. Neji looked at him impassively.

"So what's it going to be, Lee?"
morissamorimo on February 11th, 2009 06:09 am (UTC)
Lee's voice was a concerned whisper, audible to only Neji. "I-If this is only to watch out for Tenten, then I will help you." He replied, earning him a satisfied look from Neji.

Gingerly, Lee stood up and brought a thoughtful hand to his chin. "Well, where could she be?"

Neji merely shook his head, not particularly wanting to admit that he had no idea where their female teammate was.

"Well...we could ask Sakura-san if she knows where Tenten could be!!" Lee sounded too excited for his own good when he mentioned Sakura. Neji rolled his eyes; leave it to Lee to sneak in a trip to see his crush.

Crush. Neji's nose wrinkled just at the thought of the word. It seemed so trivial to him, so...useless.

Lee seemed to be reading his mind, "Don't worry Neji! I'm sure that you too will one day find a beautiful young woman that will set your heart on fire!! Then you will sweep her off her feet and you will know what true love is!" He proclaimed loudly. So loudly that a few passerbys stopped to rais a brow at the strange proclamation.

Needless to say, Neji was not amused. Briskly, he turned on his heel and stalked off towards the hospital where Sakura was, knowing that Lee would follow him anyway.

His assumption was right, and soon Neji and Lee found themselves outside the hospital, peering in a window to see if they could spot a pink-haired head among the hospital beds. Neji doubted that Sakura would know where Tenten was or what was going on with her, but it couldn't hurt to ask.

Soon enough, they did spot the pink head of Sakura, followed closely by...Tenten.

"Delivering the babies is one of my favorite parts of working here." Sakura was saying, looking back at Tenten with a wide smile on her face, "It's so much work, but so worth it."

Tenten nodded in agreement, glancing around the hospital as they walked. Her hands were clasped behind her back in a bout of nervousness.

Sakura stopped walking and Tenten followed suit. They had stopped in front of a large window that looked in on a room full of tiny cribs. Each crib held a newborn baby. "Here we are." Sakura announced.

Despite the fact that Tenten had felt so ridiculous when she had asked Sakura if she could look at the newborn baby room in the hospital, it was well worth it. Each of them looked so...small. So helpless, and yet so curious about the world around them, their eyes just opening to take in their new home.

Inwardly, Tenten was slapping herself. She was a ninja, a kunoichi. Her days and nights were spent around cold metal and dangerous enemies, and yet she loved every minute of it. Of course she had always had a strong sisterly instinct, but where was this motherly instinct coming from?

Sighing, the weapons mistress shook her head and smiled. "They look so...soft." She said affectionately. Soft; now there was something Tenten didn't get to feel that often.

"...Neji?"

"Wha--? Oh, I'm sorry Lee." Neji, who had been taking in the scene with his Byakugan was broken out of his train of thought by Lee's questioning voice.

Lee looked anxious, "I saw Sakura and Tenten a bit, did you see where they were going?"

Neji was lost for words. He was more than unsure of what to think about what he had just seen, much less how to put it into words. He took a deep breath before giving Lee an answer.

"They're at the infant's ward." At the sound of that Lee's eyes lit up.

"Why is Tenten there?" That was the same exact question that ran through his mind. Was it the reason Tenten reduced her training? What purpose did it serve her to spend time at the hospital? Then, it hit him when he replayed their earlier conversation. 'So this was her personal project.'

"I'm going to find out," the Byukugan user stated calmly. He had to find out for himself. This chasing and dodging game has gone on long enough.

Before Lee got a chance to reply, Neji was already on the move. Like a loyal friend and teammate, he stayed behind. A smile spread on his face while he continues to walk along the brighten halls of the hospital. 'When will those two realize what they have?' He lets out a small laugh and sighed. It will only be a matter of time. He hopes it will come soon enough.

When Neji arrived at the infant's ward, he carefully approached the same window and peered in. It took him a second to adjust to the scene in front of him. Sitting on a chair, Tenten was cradling a newborn in her arms ever so tenderly. What surprised him the most was the wide smile that was on her face. He had seen it many times before whenever she was at her happiest moment . . .when she was with him. For a moment the feeling of nostalgia creep up on him like a shiver on a cold night. He now understands what she wants.

"Neji?" He found himself looking at Sakura, who had a bewildered expression on her face. Her hands were carrying miniature bottles of milk. "What are you doing here?" She turns her head towards Tenten, smiling at level of comfort the weapon mistress have around newborns. His silence was all she needed. "You should just tell her, you know," the pink haired female firmly told him. "Tenten will make a great mother and you, more than anyone can--"

"You have no reason to interfere in my life, Haruno." He gave a final look at his teammate and turned around to make his exit. "In the future, you should reframe from making references to correct the things that went wrong in your life." The fuming Sakura would have punched the lights out of him if it wasn't for the bottles she was holding onto, yet she wasn't going to let him get away with that remark.

"For you information, I am trying to help my friend. Of course, I don't think you would know what that means. Do you have any idea what it feels like to wake up every day and regret not being able to do something that might just mean the world to you? At this rate, you're well on your way," she adds bitterly. The Hyuuga gave her a glare and pushed the door open before replying.

"I do." At this point, the rosette female stood there, looking flabbergast at the swinging door. Sakura sadly shakes her head and went into the room where Tenten is waiting.

"Looks like you're enjoying yourself," she chuckled. Handing Tenten a small bottle, she watched adoringly at her friend's motherly instincts. "You're really good at this."

"Oh, I don't know about that," said the weapon mistress. She gently brushes the bottom lip of the newborn before inserting in the tiny bottle to him.

"You're a natural, Tenten." Sakura went over to the other newborns and checked on their health. "Do you plan to have some of your own?" At that question, Tenten looked up from her task.

"I really do," a small laugh escapes her lips. "I want to have children of my own. It's just complicated." Here she goes again, dodging around matters that she has no control over. "I guess in due time." Inwardly, Sakura wished for the happiness of her friend to come soon, knowing that she deserved it. A part of her wanted to do something about it, and then a crazy idea came to mind. What if she was able to move things along between Tenten and Neji? God knows they are very stubborn. It was for their own good.

As Sakura began to brew some secret plans in her head, one thing's for sure is that she's going need some help, lots of help.

" I have a great idea that may help to bring Tenten and Neji together!"

"Oh, what is it?" Lee asked with much enthusiasm.

" Follow me!"

Together, Sakura and Lee sneaked in the Hokage's tower, in a room where many books and scrolls were stored. She stretched her arm to reach an old book on a high shelf.

" Tenten seems to have developed a linking to children and Neji seems to have developed a liking to Tenten, right?

Lee nodded expectantly.

" There is a jutsu described in this book that may very well combine those two linkings."

She flipped a few pages and showed what she was looking for to Lee.

" Rejuvenation jutsu?" Lee read. " You mean..."

Sakura flashed a mischievous grin.

" I can create a potion that makes people younger. We'll get Neji to drink it and turn him into toddler, and have Tenten babysit him!"

" Oh that will definitely lead to some bonding! But Neji will never agree to that..."

" This is where you come in, Lee."

"A drink that does what?" Neji stared down at the bottle of dubious looking amber liquid Lee had pushed into his hand. "I sincerely hope this isn't one of your usual asinine ideas, Lee. For your sake."

They were walking back to the village after a short bout of sparring at their training grounds. Short, because Tenten had been absent yet again, leaving Neji in no mood to face an inordinately cheerful Lee on his own.

Lee grinned at him, holding up his own half-finished bottle. "Gai-sensei said it makes the drinker FIFTEEN THOUSAND TIMES more manly! Isn't that amazing?? I bet Gai-sensei drinks this every day. It makes you stronger and faster and -" He winked at Neji meaningfully. Neji shuddered. "-completely irresistible to women, too. Something to do with hormonal balance and scent signaling. Gai-sensei is AMAZING!!"

"It's not working, evidently."

Lee looked wounded. "Gai-sensei is very popular with the ladies."

"I'm not drinking anything advocated by that man," Neji told him witheringly.

"My friend, you are missing out." Lee shrugged, taking a long swig from his bottle. By now they were passing the smattering of residential buildings petering out along the outskirts of the village - taking a slightly longer route than necessary to get to the main street, actually, but Team Gai had developed a habit of taking this particular road as a quiet indulgence for Lee. Sakura's house lay just ahead. Neji rolled his eyes at the way Lee's countenance was already brightening up (even further. If possible.)

Suddenly a familiar voice rang out from behind. "Lee!"

They turned to see Sakura emerging onto the street from a small pathway, a huge smile spread across her face. She jogged towards them. "Hello, Lee," she cooed, "back from training already?" She leaned coyly against his shoulder.

"Sakura-chan." Lee blushed deeply. "How nice to see you today."

"How nice to you see you," she giggled. She tilted her head cutely, staring up at Lee with an adoring look on her face and completely ignoring the disbelieving one on Neji's. "You look tired! Want something to drink? I got freshly squeezed apple juice. Do you want apple juice? I bet you want apple juice. Let's go back to my place!" Without waiting for an answer she grabbed Lee's hand and began dragging the boy towards her house, leaving a thoroughly confused and slightly disturbed Hyuuga staring after them.

Did that really just happen? Sakura practically clubbing Lee over his head and dragging him back to her place? Neji pinched himself hard to make sure he wasn't dreaming. It hurt. Perhaps there was more to this drink than he thought after all as evidenced by Sakura's unusual display.

A bottle rolled towards his feet. Lee had accidentally dropped it when Sakura had grabbed his hand. Neji picked it up and examined the bottle slowly. It was an unmarked bottle. He slowly unscrewed the lid and took a cautious sniff. It smelt like one of Sakura's foul tasting soldier pills that he had made the mistake of eating once. Well if it was like a liquid version of a soldier pill it wouldn't hurt to try some. But to be doubly safe, Neji dribbled a few drops of the suspicious looking amber liquid onto a flower growing by the side of the street and observed the plant for any signs of wilting. He didn't quite trust Lee's stomach, and body metabolism in general, as a reliable standard reaction to food and drink after the curry of life episode and his own firsthand experience of Lee's extremely low tolerance to alcohol.

The flower looked fine, in fact its leaves looked a little bit greener but perhaps it was just a cloud passing by overhead. Or his imagination.

Neji took a small sip from the bottle. It tasted a lot better than it smelt and there was a really interesting element to it that he couldn't quite identify. He took a swig and began walking towards the main street alone. It was approaching noon and the sun was starting to scorch everything. Neji took another few swigs from the bottle, finishing its contents quickly and carelessly threw it into the bin. He reached the main street and continued strolling down with his hands in his pocket, staring down at the ground moodily. He didn't feel any different after that drink. Obviously it didn't work.

As he approached the Hyuuga compound, Neji yawned widely. Strange, he was starting to feel quite tired but he had had a lot on his mind lately and wasn't sleeping very well. Perhaps it was the heat as well. He nodded in greeting to various relatives wandering around the compound and caught himself yawning again. Odd, he hadn't felt that tired this morning when he woke up. Neji made his way to his room and flopped down onto his inviting looking futon. A short nap before lunch wouldn't hurt.

He closed his eyes and his world went dark...
Solitude Whispers: Cold [Zero]winter_yuy on February 13th, 2009 09:49 pm (UTC)
[This is going to be short due to time restriction and work. Sorry.]

Tenten walked towards the Hyuuga compound, idly twirling a kunai on her index finger. Her mind kept wandering to her mild confrontation with Neji earlier. Maybe she had been skipping out on training, but it was for a good reason. She'd been longing for something more lately, something that had a greater meaning than herself and training. After spending time with Sakura at the infant ward, she understood what that longing was.

She wanted to be a mother.

Deep inside, she longed to give birth to a child. Longed to hold one in her arms, sing to it at night, and watch it grow. Of course, her she couldn't be one without a man; so, she just opted for visiting the nursery and spending a few hours a day with the baby's.

Tenten walked into the gates of the compound, waving to the members of the Hyuuga clan as she passed them by. She was, after all, welcome here any time. Her friendship with Hinata and close relationship with Neji allowed her such privlages.

"Good afternoon, Tenten."

The brunette turned around to see Hinata standing there, smiling affectionately.

"Hey, Hinata. Have you seen Neji?"

"I think he's in his quarters. Is something wrong?"

She smiled, "No. I thought he might want to go for a late training sessions, is all."

The bluenette nodded her head and, after a quick goodbye, the two departed. Tenten made a b-line towards Neji's room, knocking on the door.

"Neji, are you awake?"

She waited for a second before sliding back the door and stepping into his room. The weapon's mistress closed it behind her quickly, her eyes honing in on the lump on the bed.

"Oi, Neji. What are you doing asleep at this hour?"

No response.

Tenten clicked her tongue in annoyance. She moved to the bed and grabbed the covers, ripping the off in a swift motion.

All the teen could do was stare at the sight before her, mouth hanging open, chocolate eyes wide in shock.

"N...Neji?!" Tenten couldn't stop from staring at him.

Neji opened his eyes and yawned. "Ten...ten...?" He looked down at himself. "WHAT THE?!" He quickly pulled the covers back on. Unfortunately for Neji, not only did he now have the body of a three-year-old, he was completely naked. During his transformation, his clothes didn't get any smaller, and while rolling around in his sleep...his clothes came right off!

Tenten closed her eyes. "Um...uh...you know, I, I just don't know how to react to this. Neji, that IS you, right? Why are you...a little kid?"

"I DON'T KNOW!!" Neji yelled from underneath the covers. "Just...go! Go away!" Sudden realization came to his mind and Neji's face transformed into a deep scowl. "Get. Lee."

"What?"

"GET LEE NOW!!!" He screamed, getting up and wrapping the blanket around his middle. "I need to borrow some clothes from a younger cousin." He walked out of the room, the blanket trailing behind him like a wedding dress.

Tenten waited until he was out of hearing range, and laughed harder then she had ever laughed before. She started walking out of the Hyuuga Compound, when Hinata walked over to her.

"T-Tenten-san? Are you...alright?" She looked worried at her friend's behavior.

Tenten giggled in between words. "N...Neji! He's...! He's a toddler! Psshahaha!!" She cracked up again, rolling on the ground.

Hinata stared at her friend, denying her sanity. "Uh...alright...if you say so..." She walked away slowly, leaving the chuckling Tenten to roll on the ground like a idiot.

-

Neji, on the other hand, couldn't fit into his younger male cousin's clothes, so his female cousin was the next best thing. An extremely girly top with an adorable skirt underneath seemed to be the most embarrassing outfit the Hyuuga could've picked out, but it turned out to be the best choice he had.

"Lee is going to pay."
aragon_astenaragon_asten on February 15th, 2009 02:17 pm (UTC)
Tenten changed her mind, midway through the door.
"I have to see what he looks like... not naked..." she chuckled to herself. Besides she had to ask what she needed to get Lee for. She sneaked back into his room and waited.
------
Tenten bit back a roar of laughter as mini-Neji padded back into the room with a glorious scowl upon his features. Wearing that ridiculous gown, Neji looked every bit the picture of childish innocence if not for the deadly aura radiating from his 2 feet frame.
"What are you doing here?" he snarled, trying not to color up with embarassment.

"I'm sorry," Tenten said soothingly, carefully averting her eyes from his attire. "I just wanted to know what you're gonna do to Lee."
At the mention of their green teammate, Neji glowered some more.

"Tenten! Lee is going to pay!" he declared, little fists upon his hips. With matching stomping of foot. And proper pouting.
Tenten almost choked from utter cuteness of that. Neji's eyes narrowed and silently dared her to laugh.

"I'm sorry," she let out breathlessly, lips twitching. Putting up a reassuring palm up, she knelt down a few feet away from him (little or no, that glare was still something to wary of) and forced herself not to crack up once more.
"What happened? What did he do?" she managed to let out.

"I don't know," Neji harumphed, chubby little arms crossing at his chest. Actually, come to think of it, Neji realized, it was his fault for stupidly drinking that bottle... No label, no clear testing method--Hiashi would horribly disapprove if he found out. What the hell was wrong with him?

"Neji--"
He turned to his teammate, suddenly aware of her surprised gasp. "What?"
"Y-you're... blushing.." Tenten pointed out dazedly, her brown eyes melting into liquid goo. "You.. don't.. blush..."

Neji tilted his head, suddenly bewildered.
That bewildered look coupled with that frilly top, plus that long silky hair, AND that cute oh so adorably beautiful face, was too much for Tenten's heart and mind to handle. Her brain shortcircuited.
At least she still managed to choke out, "I-I'm sorry Neji.. but.." But that was it.

Before he knew it, Neji was lifted up to mid-air and crushed in Tenten's hug.
"Tenten!!! Get off--ermph" Neji yelled, pounding his fists in her chest.
To no avail. She continued to squeeze him tight. Then she twirled round and round, squealing, jumping up and down.
By this time, Neji's three year old body had grown dizzy from the glomp, and just collapsed into his teammate's shoulder. His eyes rolled around to the back of his head, the trauma of the day plus seeing his three year old body in a pink gown too much to bear.
After a while, Tenten's frenzied embrace stilled. She looked at him unconsciously hanging on her shoulder. Her jaw dropped.
Oops..

She looked around in panic. Oh dear god, she silently screamed. "I think I killed Neji..."
She looked left and right, peered out of the window, then saw the carefully kept calendar on the wall. She realized with sudden horror that the elders were due to visit Neji's room today.

She glanced at the unconscious boy in her arms. This wasn't the best of scenes for the elders to see. Unconscious boy in stranger's arns? Friend of Neji or not, she might still be accused of doing some harm to the a Hyuuga family member. That was a huge crime. Big time!

Besides, he didn't look Neji at all. He looked like an ordinary little girl, with a vague resemblance to Hinata. (And judging from the family's history) that would be an even more heinous crime.

Oh heavens, what will she do?!

Panic clouding her judgment (already cracked by the sight of Neji in a dress,) she decided to leap out of the window, out from the compound.

Heading straight to the direction of her apartment, she ran off with the unconscious little boy cradled in her arms.

"Tenten."

"....yyyyyyyes?"

"You do realize my uncle will be irked at you for kidnapping me."

Tenten huffed at the tiny, solemn-faced boy lecturing her from his grand height of three feet something.

"Kidnap? Kinda dramatic, doncha think, Neji-chan?"

"....you did not just call me Neji-CHAN."

"Well, if the itty-bitty baby-shoe fits..."

Neji glared at her, but the effect was more adorable than anything else. Tenten stifled the urge to squeal and huggle him again. "Anyway, I was just bringing you here so I could - uh - attend to you. You passed out. I theorize it's cos of your weaker, itty-bitty widdle body now..."

"Tenten. You will cease referring to me as itty-bitty...."

Tenten found the lecturing pose he adopted too much to handle, and promptly grabbed him for a hug again, pressing her against his chest. "Oh my gods and dragons, you are SO CUTE!"

Neji flushed red, his thoughts certainly more adult than his body currently was, as he found his face pressed into incredible softness....

There was a sudden puff of amber smoke and Tenten found herself cuddling a full-grown Neji to her chest. A full-grown, clad-only-in-the-tatters-of-too-small-clothes Neji. She gaped silently at him.

Neji blinked in confusion.

I'm... back to normal?

He nearly passed out with relief. Thank goodness! He didn't voice it, but he'd been deathly afraid that he might have been stuck as a helpless toddler! Then he nearly passed out from embarrassment.

His adult face was pressed right up between Tenten's oh-so-soft breasts, with her arms wrapped loosely around his head. His suddenly-longer arms were on either side of her waist. The unexpected shift in weight (from child to adult) had caused him to lose his balance and fall forward and somehow his legs were now tangled with hers. They were practically horizontal on her couch... And he was naked.

Neji stiffly pulled back – easy breaking free of Tenten's hold now that he was an adult again – carefully putting several feet of distance between them. He quickly grabbed one of the decorative sofa pillows on Tentens couch held it strategically over his... crotch... and tried to regain what little dignity he had.

“I am not cute – and I am not itty-bitty,” he ground out. “Excuse me.”

Tenten could only nod numbly as he stalked out of her living room. Neji was right. He wasn't cute. He was smoking hot. And...

He's definitely not itty-bitty... She instantly flushed scarlet. She did not just think that! She needed to get her mind out of the gutter.

Kunai – standard weapon, good for defense and offense. Shuriken – throwing star, good for distraction and trap-setting. Katana – longer reach, folded steel, standard issue ANBU weapon. Tonfa – hardwood, good for performing kata. Sai – forged steel, good for silent attacks...

By the time she got up to Naginata – a pole arm with a single, curved blade, used with sweeping, circular motions... Tenten was much calmer and focused. Reviewing weapons, their composition and uses always calmed her down.

“I hope you don't mind, but I'm borrowing this for the time being.”

Neji was back, more or less decent, with a bath towel wrapped around his waist... and looking so sexy that Tenten felt all her hard-earned calm flying out the window.

“We need to talk,” he said seriously.

"About what?" Tenten slowly asked him, trying to gain a little self-control and mentally telling her eyes not to wander beyond the narrow curve of his tight abdominal that led to his--

"Tenten," it wasn't his voice that snapped her out of her stupor, but the distance that closed between them. Neji resents anyone who dare enters his personal space, but with her it is different. She knows this because the closest distance Tenten has ever got within Neji's space is calculated by only centimeters. As comrades, it was common for them to share a bed during missions when it was necessary, and with both of them being so stubborn, they final came to the conclusion that fighting about it wasn't going to help anyone get a good night's rest. The only thing they agreed on was that they should share the bed; only when it was necessary of course.

During those times, Tenten would always stay up a bit longer and observe her tired team mate, for no matter how tired Neji is, he remains to be an early riser. To say that she isn't a least a bit attracted to her team mate is a boldface lie. Who wouldn't be attracted? Then again, Tenten knows more about Neji than anyone outside his family and mentors. She knows him inside out: his flaws, his habits, and mood swings. Hell, she can cite his daily schedule in a heartbeat. However, the only thing that is keeping them apart is their own stubbornness, even the blind can sense it.

"Yes?" She squeaked. Inwardly, she wanted to slap herself. 'Who cares if he's half naked with only a towel around his waist, he's still Neji. He's still the stoic Hyuuga Neji with a toned body I helped him build through training and LOTS of meditation, not to mention those sexy--'! Tenten stopped herself before her brain decides to continue on over-analyzing his entire anatomy while is presented fully in front of her. Currently, the visual aid was NOT helping.

Taking in a deep breath to clear the drool that was threatening to escape her mouth, the weapon specialist watched as Neji pulled her hands into his. She tilts her head out of bewilderment, and will never forget the phrase that came out of his mouth.

"I've been in love with you the first moment I saw you. Please be my wife, Tenten."

And suddenly there was a raging storm in Tenten's blood vessels. Did she hear correctly?

"Wha--? Where's this coming from?"

" I'm tired of playing this game," the man said with a serious look. " We're not children anymore. I love you. How about you?"

Tenten turned away, uncomfortable.

" I..I love you too. But this is so sudden..."

Neji brought a hand to her cheek. " Yeah, if only I hadn't taken so long to realize it... But it's alright, I'll wait as long as necessary."

Tenten took a look at Neji's gentle smiling face. Then she tried to imagine what their children would look like. Cute, beautiful and powerful little future ninjas. They'd have her facial features and his hair. She knew it.

After a few seconds of day-dreaming, she gave Neji a huge smile.

" Okay, done waiting!"

They wrapped their arms around each other and finally kissed. Each of them could not believe how long they had waited for this.

"I'll gladly be your wife if you'll be the father of my children."

" Deal."

With his arms around his new fiancee, Neji was no longer holding his towel, which fell. The young woman's cheeks flashed red. Neji blushed as well and picked up the towel.

Well, Tenten thought, when it comes to children, Neji definitely got things covered...

The End?
