[12 Days Of NejiTen] [Sireensilver] [set 2]
This festival is like a happy drug. There, I said it.

Title: [still none...D:] [Part 2]
Author: sireensilver
Rating: T
Notes: For the 12 Days of NejiTen Challenge; connected pieces (though this set does not necessarily have to be connected to part 1. BUT THEY COULD BE.)
Themes: call, queen, flute, wine

<-Part ONE.

i. call - i can hear you call without a sound

It’s a wedding day and she’s dancing, and she’s irresistible.

The newlywed Uchiha couple didn’t mean for such a big event, but more people came to celebrate their happiness than they anticipated. Still, the wine and food hadn’t run out, and the lawn was still sufficient dancing space.

Uchiha, Neji notes offhandedly, have always been the bigger clan. But his eyes are on Tenten. She dances, having escaped him a while ago, and twirls and turns so that the soft greens of her skirt make her look like she is floating. There are small green stones hanging from her ears and throat, and simple bangles on her arms. Her feet are taking light steps in graceful shoes that have ribbons wrapped around her legs. Her head is bare, and her hair is wild from being free. Neji can see every detail when he’s watching her.

It’s dark, and there are only lanterns and torches to aid his eyes when they look for her. He sees her again, after one weave of the crowd, this time drinking in the pure pleasure on her face from her dance. She catches his eye and smiles. She doesn’t have to call out to beckon to him.

He dances with her in the next song.

ii. queen - there is beauty in such fine movement

Tenten’s dancing attracts much attention. It is playful fire and energy, and she has never looked more alluring. Neji loves all of it, but wants it all for himself. It frustrates him. He can’t stop her, because the celebrating couple of the wedding stole away ages ago, and so she isn’t stealing anyone’s night.

“I never thought this would be so much fun,” Tenten says to him, in one of her very brief breaks between the dance floor. To her credit, she is ignoring everyone else’s attentions in favor of his, and it reassures him.

He gives her his smile, the one he doesn’t release out into public too often. His hand is on her cheek, stroking it very lightly but fondly and teasingly. “I think I know of something more fun.”

She laughs, leaning her cheek into his palm. His other hand brushes her hair softly. They both know he is less shy when it is just them. “Sounds interesting. Maybe after this last dance.” She steps back and smoothens her skirt. Coyly, she tells him, “You know you never complimented me on my outfit tonight.”

Neji knows she is his, so he consents to letting her dance again. But not before letting her know that she looks like a queen.

iii. flute - the sweet sound will lure you but only i can have you

The music is nowhere near as intoxicating as she is. When the dance finishes and she moves towards him, another merry sensual tune starts up and she stops to turn. He doesn’t let her go back, closing his fingers around her wrist.

“Aw, Neji, one last dance,” Tenten says, with a small mock pout to tease him. He pulls her close to his body and lets his mouth graze her ear.

“You’re coming with me.”

Her smile tells him she is willing, and they leave hand in hand. Behind them, the music is left with its sweet melodies in the moonlight.

iv. wine - a world all for our very own

They share a drink and a few words before taking the step, and Neji feels Tenten’s surprise when the drink isn’t tea.

“I think you’re trying to get me drunk, Neji,” she says, laughing slightly.

“I was saving it for something special,” he replies, eyes smoky. “Up until now I wasn’t sure what that would be.” Tenten merely looks back at him. Her eyes are sparkling pools of amber that inebriate deeper than any wine, and he wants to tell her this. Instead, he watches as she takes the cup from his hands and puts her lips to the brim.

“It doesn’t matter,” she murmurs. “I’m half drunk already.”

Words cease when their mouths become too occupied with each other. It’s a slow kiss, and much sweeter than the wine. His hands are cupping her face tenderly, and she can only pull herself closer to him. He is alarmed when there is wetness on her cheeks, and pulls back to question the tears, but has no chance when she moves forward to kiss him again. They break to breathe, and his bare forehead is touching hers. It’s all achingly beautiful, something Neji can’t say he saw coming exactly, but something he will keep forever.

Later, in the morning, the sunlight streams through the window and hits the forgotten bottle on the dresser, before the warm bed. Its occupants sleep, still drunk on love, dreams, and each other.

I love Tenten's portrayal in this.

And the last line if made of the universe's win, if that's even possible. >>; I'll stop worshiping shamelessly now, if that's okay with you. :D
